The Non-Update Update

I need to get the car back so I have an excuse to stay out of trouble.

These are the dying days of being single. Not that that’s bad – but it’s a fact. The car is still out in Kelowna and according to my fiancĂ©, and an email I received from Mike, he is feeling the pressure and is not in the mood to receive anymore “interested-passers-by”. I’m getting a little cranky myself but am hoping that everything will work itself out very soon. A running car heals all sins.

In the vein of what they say about “idle hands” I did some Stampeding with Krista on Friday and spent some quality time with one of my groomsmen on Saturday. After a day of working out we had an evening of barhopping.

Sunday morning I awoke in the backseat of my trusty pickup truck in the parking lot of not the last bar we were at but the second last. Unfortunately it was a long walk between the two bars. An afternoon workout with a university-level defensive lineman and an evening of drinking with the same said person is not something you should stuff into the backseat of a 2002 Dodge Quad Cab for six hours. I felt rather terrible for most of Sunday.

There is no rest for the wicked. My stag is this upcoming weekend and so far, from what I know, it involves two days of a lot of drinking and a little golf out at the family cabin with 20 of my closest friends.

As you can see the wedding season is now upon us. Krista is off of school for the summer and, I know I’ve said this before, so all I will say is there is a good chance I will be otherwise occupied starting Monday. So, the answer is No, the car is not going to be done for the wedding.

Missing the wedding with the car is a little disappointing but it’s for the best. I have worked damn hard to get that car to the point it’s at now and the last thing I want to do is to rush it.

The new plan, the plan for my end goal of the car… and for me, is to run it out to Vancouver in the fall for the sole purpose of fetching lobster for a party. It will be a four day trip out to Van, with an overnight stop in Kelowna each way. I want to do something to mark the end of this journey that has defined over a year of my life. I can’t think of something more fitting or more in the vein of what this project is about.
